The MFR in Forest Business is designed to help students develop the necessary skills for positions of leadership in forest operations management, timberland investing, or education in the private or public sector. This degree program combines the principles of:
- Finance
- Economics
- Leadership
- Marketing
- Silviculture
- Mensuration
- Statistics
- Operations Research
Thanks to a unique partnership, all business courses are taken through the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business.
In addition to rigorous academic preparation, our MFR students participate in a range of formative experiences including internships, forestry operations tours, and forest investment conferences. Many of these opportunities are international, reflecting the global nature of today’s forest business environment.

Master of Forest Resources Requirements
Program Requirements or equivalent which must be completed before or during the MFR Program:

The requirements for the degree of Master of Forest Resources are met by the completion of an approved program of a minimum of 33 semester hours of graduate course work, of which 13 semester hours must be in courses taken inside the School of Forest Resources and 9 semester hours must be in courses taken outside of the School. There are three major areas of course work in the MFR program: Forest Resources core, Forest Resources electives, and other electives. Each area is described in greater detail below. In addition, students must pass a final oral examination.
